I would add a new QUIET preference,
with effects on both sourceinstall and
sourceinstall-gtk.
By default, the value QUIET is 0 (not active),
and both sourceinstall and sourceinstall-gtk
consequently show all the stderr, stdout and spawning.
When active (1) standard output results are not shown.
The sourceinstall command line tool maintains the
ability to override it using -q (force quiet) and
-Q (force verbose).
The sourceinstall-gtk gui finds would find the new
preference in Edit->preferences as usual.
The reason for this is that full output can slow down
a build by a huge amount of time (even only during
tar -zxvf). However, one _does_ lose the ability to
easily track problems, so it should be used with care
and disabled by default.
If some one disagrees, please speak now :)
Claudio
