There's another bug about the lone zero block issue in the Debian BTS at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=235820
that ends with a patch from Jeroen van Wolffelaar <address@hidden> to
simply avoid printing even the warning.
There are apparently a lot of tar files on the net that trip this warning,
including anything created by 'ant'. Sadly, users see the warning and assume
they are errors, so changing this from an error to a warning didn't really
make anyone happier.
I've always been fond of the "speak precisely but listen politely" approach
to protocols and file formats. This feels like one of those cases, and so I'd
be inclined to accept this patch or an equivalent for the upcoming Debian
stable release.
Opinions?
