[Bug-tar] Feature Request

Hello,

I'm a french student fond of 7z compression file format, and I was wondering 
about why the great Tar wasn't able to do something like :

$ tar c7f smth.7z from_dir/
$ tar x7vf smth.7z

Using the free 7zip format, with max settings.

This format is farly more effective than Bzip2.
