[Bug-tar] Re: gtar --listed-incremental silently failing again

is there any modifications to --listed-incremental behavior in any snapshots
later than the tar-1.16.2-20070123 (from alpha.gnu) that i tried?

is there any gtar developers that know this section of the code well, i'm
in a tight spot here with this not working - i can only imagine it affects
some others and they just don't know it.

tried stable 1.16.1 and tar-1.16.2-20070123 (from alpha.gnu) and
neither work, none of the files in the 8.5 million file fs get picked
up at all still.
