While "--no-unquote" appears to work ok here, the option isn't yet listed by 
tar --help as being usable within a global context:

$ tar --help
   [...]
   -T, --files-from=FILE   get names to extract or create from FILE
        --unquote              unquote filenames read with -T (default)

And tar's manpage does not even mention an "--unquote" option.
