Not if you can still find the info manuals that you need.

    How could I reconstruct the file?

In the Texinfo distribution, there are two scripts in the util/
directory, fix-info and gen-dir-node, which can make a dir file from a
bunch of info files.  (They aren't installed or really supported, I just
include them since people sent them to me.)
