    In groff there exists an escape `\?', which has proper index entries.
    In the info program, because `?' is used as the completion character,
    it isn't possible currently to search for `\?'.

I believe it can be done with C-q ?.

    I suggest that pressing `?' a second time searches for a literal
    question mark.  

I have no objection (it would be nice if that could be done more
universally in Emacs, in fact), but standalone info is nowhere on my
list of priorities.

I added it to the bug tracker at savannah, which is where I've been
keeping such wishlist items, in case someday someone is actually
interested in working on info again.
