Thanks a lot!  Support for various quotes is now used in LilyPond
manual.

Yes, of course.  A related improvement would be adding a command like
@thinspace to insert a thin unbreakable space.  In French typography,
this kind of space should be used in after a left guillemet, before a
right guillemet, and before "!" and "?".
