There is an easy way to be sure that bash is used and not /bin/sh, by 
changing the texi2dvi shebang.  Otherwise it is quite fair, in my opinion,
to assume that the script will run fine on any POSIX conformant shell
including strictly POSIX conformant (suboptimal) shells.
