ugh, i still get the same complaints.

here is what i have installed (perhaps something is newer/older than 
 what you have; this is all from the newest Debian packages):

    autoconf       2.13-27        automatic configure script builder
    automake       1.4-8          A tool for generating GNU Standards-complian

    libglade0-dev  0.16-3         Development files for libglade.
    libgnomemm-dev 1.1.17-2       C++ wrapper for GNOME (development files)
    libgtkmm-dev   1.2.5-2        C++ wrapper for GTK (development files)
    libxml2-dev    2.3.8-0.2      Development files for the GNOME XML library
    libglade-gnome 0.16-3         Development files for libglade (Gnome widget

that 'auto*/configure' stuff is so great when it works, yet so impenetrable
 when it doesn't....
