The "?" is not the problem. See these lines in the output you included:
> Cannot write to `download.html?product=firefox-3.5.1&os=win&lang=en-US'

As far as I can tell, the "File name too long" error is only generated on
Windows machines so I'm assuming you're running on some version of Windows.
For what it's worth, I am able to retrieve that file running wget in a
cygwin shell running on Windows XP.
What version of wget are you using?
