No, I get them on GNU/Linux (Ubuntu), too. Especially if I'm trying to
get stuff from Savannah, which always has colossal links.

There's a patch at https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/index.php?21714;
currently held up waiting for copyright-assignment stuff.
