I am afraid we use the file descriptor as used by gnulib instead of the
file handle.

No, they are not.

Unfortunately the test suite doesn't honor TESTS as it should.  A
workaround is to launch directly the perl script, for example:

$ cd tests
$ perl Test-c.px
