i tried to play an xiangqi game against one of the build in engines. After
i played this game i get an error, if i try to play a normal western chess
game.
Everytime i load Winboard the Xiangqi font appears. Its difficult to play
western Chess with Xiangqi board and pieces. Hope you can fix this.
You must have saved the settings (or switched on "Save Settings on Exit")
while you were using the XIANGQI font.
To get rid of this font setting, start WinBoard through the startup dialog,
and put for "Additional Options" there:
/renderPiecesWithFont=""
Then WinBoard should switch back to using the built-in symbols.
Another way to do this would be to open winboard.ini with a text editor,
which usually requires only double-clicking it. Look for the line
/renderPiecesWithFont="XIANGQI"
and then delete the XIANGQI (or the entire line), or prefix it with an
asterisk ("*XIANGQI").
I guess it would be a good idea to supply a copy of the supplied
winboard.ini file
in the installer package, named defaults.ini, just for mishaps like this.
Or perhaps only containing the settings that are difficult to change from
the menus.
People could then recover the default settings by giving
@defaults
as "Additional Options". Besides the font, you probably will also find the
list of
Chess engines to appear in the startup-dialog combo boxes by a list of
Xiangqi engines.
