I've applied the cleanup patches to master (the fix for #1468 was applied
already and made it into 5.0.0).  I made a few minor tweaks where
necessary, to make the patches apply and to fix a bug that the original
patch introduced in find-dynamic-extension; it called symbol->string on
the required "id", but that is a string in some cases (maybe this got
changed in the meantime, I don't know).

These have now been pushed, as ff64c99f through e2963459.
