Hi,
I have converted the fontforge native script stuff to fontforge's python API -
https://github.com/HinTak/freetype-py/blob/fontval-diag/examples/subfonts.py
so instead of two steps, one to write a new subfonts.pe , one to run the
result, you just run
this one in replacement of the old i.e. instead of
fontforge -script <output_from_theother>.pe ...
you just do:
fontforge -script subfonts.py ...
as long as your fontforge is built with its python extensions. (most linux
builds are, not sure about windows).
I found some differences in the two approaches in terms of what fontforge
actually adding break points and simplifying outlines
( see screenshot )
https://github.com/fontforge/fontforge/issues/3105#issuecomment-312746544
though only of technical interests, and not of any important for practical
usage.
