I would really like if this stuff gets maintained inside GNU 
classpath. It makes it easier for our users to get JDK-like runtime 
libraries.

Please Go! Go! Go!

Note that I have made some little changes to this code since you 
imported it into GNU classpath. You need to check to not revert them. 
It were only some style cleanups to make checkstyle shut up.
