Hi,
(I have CCed the Classpath mailinglist with this good news!)

Wow! That is really, really nice.
You might or might not know that there is a prize for for the first VM
that manages to load Eclipse under one minute on some standard PC using
only free software (although it is a bit of a symbolic prize since it is
paid out of my own pocket). You can see a list of contestants and the
"official rules" at
http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/classpath/2003-04/msg00038.html

You might not (yet) be the fastest (the speed record is already claimed
by the JikesRVM with 12 seconds!) but you are probably the first fast
enough completely proprietary free implementation that runs Eclipse.

Please let me know if you want to claim te prize and how to repeat your
findings (I am currently using Debian unstable x86, but are willing to
install and/or patch any free software required).

BTW JRVM people. This is your last chance to get your VM to bootstrap
itself completely by building a boot image using JRVM itself. Please
hurry before Zoltan actually claims the prize! The same goes for any
other VM implementor of course :)

O nice. I didn't know that. This is probably also a good testsuite for
other VM implementors. Good to see all these free software projects
working together.

You know already about the results posted by Brian Jones for other VMs
based on Classpath? http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/mauve/

Cheers,

Mark
