Brad,

I dont think ravi is on the contacts-hackers list so I am cc'ing him.
The conversion tools have been written and run we have the flat file in
single table in postgres. I am working on splitting it out into our
normalized schema.

It will be more complex than first thought in that I was thinking people
only not so much companies. The specification allows for this and we
have schemas, just pulling the data isnt as straight forward.

I will definitely need to talk in irc or on phone on some decisions. I
am using the cvs for contacts-hackers (and would like if someone could
setup a cvs commit list). Be forewarned the stuff will almost be
identical to gnue-sb. I am only doing in two places because there will
be some customizations early on to get 'cleanup' done. After we are
cleaned up I would pretty much expect to merge back into gnue-sb.

The first big item is shippingcontact is horribly inconsistent, so it
becomes near impossible to have a computer try to split, first, middle,
last name. Im thinking of making it so it has the shipping contact
field and then someone goes through all the records and splits it how it
should be to clean up. The other choice is to make some reasonable
guesses of first and last and still provide original and let someone
clean that up.

Im wondering if we want to do this as part of the full application or if
you have hands there where I can give you the datadumps and a form
(application) to rapidly have someone clean up. Then export me back a
data dump. We can talk more tomorrow.

Just wanted to let you know this is going. Ravi we hope to have you
sending out Holiday cards/labels with GNUe!!!

Have no fear GNUe is near... or is that oh dear gnue is here? ;)

Side note: Brad will FSF be in NY for LinuxWorldExpo NY?
