In the FAQ on the Dazuko website there is a note that Dazuko supports NFS but not the linux kernel server. Why is this also true for linux kernel version 2.6? Does the kernel NFS server bypass even the kernel security api?
Hi,I just did a test and the NFS Kernel Server also bypasses the Linux 2.6 kernel security api. This is because the kernel server handles file and network activity directly from inside the kernel. There are no user/kernel context switches that occur.
As mentioned in the FAQ, using a userspace NFS kernel would allow the file access events to be detectable.
