_IO_putc and _IO_getc

Hi,

when building ddd 3.3 on solaris 7 with gcc 2.95-2
i get a linking error:

Undefined                       first referenced
 symbol                             in file
_IO_getc                            strclass.o
_IO_putc                            plotter.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to ddd
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `ddd'

but I can't find any reference to these 2 funcs or its definition anywhere.
Am I missing the obvious? Any clues?
