ddd and cforge

i am trying to install code forge on mandrake 7.2. i was told that
lesstif was not suitable for code forge or ddd so i tried to uninstall
lesstif and install openmotif using rpm's.  what a horror show.

has anyone used code forge with ddd on mandrake 7.2?  i would appreciate
any help as i have spent the better part of 3 days trying to install
openmotif with rpm's and have ended up 'chasing my tail'.
