Could they not be set to use regular authentication (i.e. /etc/passwd) I have lots of systems that do for those very apps. (All use ssh authentication using /etc/passwd or rsa keys.)

I would only have to make the user creation add them to passwd I would think.
We have been thinking of setting user creation to a moderated system anyway.

Change $sys_use_ldap=1 with $sys_use_ldap=0 in
/etc/sourceforge/local.inc
and web part will never access ldap for authentication
Ldap is necessary for cvs, ftp, user account, so these features should
not work
except if you rewrite backends
