It's strange but it was not exactly that I thought a lot, but that as I
read your notes and tried things out things fell more and more into
place. I have checked in everything now except for:

1) the Notes/Rests menu will need work
2) the shortcut file - I have not done any work on shortcuts in general,
just what might be good for non-modal note/chord/rhythm/non-printing
rests entry. And none of what I have planned is put into the shortcut
file.
3) the docs - I think it will be worthwhile to describe this now - it is
finally quite simple to describe.

Please report any quirks in behavior, I haven't explored everything by
any means.
