yes

no. 


The reason it is causing no trouble beyond a warning is that the branch
that is never taken is support for an old modal version of Denemo, for
which there is still a switch in the preferences. Users of that mode
would have noticed. I think that modes are not used by anyone, and could
nowadays anyway be implemented by changing keyboard shortcut sets, so
there is another code simplification which has been waiting to get done
for many years.
