[Discuss-gnuradio] Maintenance of Installation Guides

Before I say anything else, I'd like to point out that I am very
thankful to those who have written installation guides over the last few
years.  Many users have found them very helpful, and they have greatly
reduced the support burden for both me and the members of the community.

Unfortunately, some of those guides have gotten out of date and no
longer reflect the current methods of installation, and sometimes even
point people to old versions of gnuradio.  A number of people have
become very upset at having spent a lot of time following the out of
date instructions.  If you read the recent IEEE Spectrum article, you
will see that the author was one of these people.

If you Google for "gnuradio installation", the GNU Radio wiki doesn't
even make it into the first 3 pages of results!

My request is this:

    If you have an install guide, the best place for it is in the wiki
so that we can all help maintain it, so migrating it there would be the
best thing.  If you would like help doing this, just ask.

Failing that, it would be much appreciated if you could put the
following in your web page:

    A link to the wiki, with the note that it is the source of the most
up to date info
    A link to the mailing list with the note that it is the best place
to obtain support

Again, thanks to those who have taken the time to create an maintain
these guides over the years.
