Or Ettus found that hiring people active in the GNU Radio community is a
way to recruit excellent SDR people.

There is a similar situation in the Linux kernel space, the number of
independent kernel developers is dropping slowly with time, because
people that show an ability to contribute code to the kernel are prized
by employers.
