I'm afraid you did not make a mistake -- the LP0410 [1] is specified for usage between 400 and 1200 MHz. Whilst it will still pick up some signal at frequencies below 400MHz, operating it at a quarter of the lower cutoff freq. will lead to very suboptimal results.

If you know your frequency range as well as you do, I recommend trying Ralph's proposed 1/2 wavelength monopole antenna.
