3.0 branch checkout, rebuild and retry.  We only have about a week
or so until the 3.0 release...

I've checked this in on both branch and mainline, as well as the
load-2.m test that you sent me separately, so as to prevent any
recurrences.

It made sense to me, so I put it in both branch and mainline also.
