same problem know
that the mirror sites, like peanuts.org, should be okay.
That must mean that the ftp protocol does not have any allowance for error
correction! That's a bit surprising! Maybe it simply relies
on the checksums in the TCP packets to catch any problems. If so,
then either a machine along the way is mangling the data section of the
packet and then recomputing the checksum to match, your machine is blissfuly
ignoring invalid checksums, or such a mass of bad packets is being passed
back and forth that a checksum occasionally matches up to invalid data....
