problem with "emacs compile-all"

Greetings,

Whenever I load the compile-all script into emacs, emacs treats it as 
read-only.  If I rename the script, emacs is perfectly happy and allows 
editing.  Anybody know what's going on?  Is "compile-all" a special 
filename for emacs?  What can I do to make it "normal"?
