garbage collection" is used through autorelease, while you
GnuStep guys prepare the foundation (and soon the appkit too)
for use with "real" garbage collection.
Dunno how you see how it is _preferred_ by GNUstep. GC in
GNUstep was made to work just a few weeks ago, IIRC. No need to
prefer GC just because it's new.
Using the autorelease mechanism consistently should work fine on
both sides.
