NSStatusBar is used to display items in the system-wide menu bar, for instance icons for sound volume, a clock, or airport status. May be it does not make sense in GNUstep, but at least it is not a Windows-like status bar. And in the Mac context, it is useful.


Yep ... NeXTstep applications which wanted to display status information in this sort of way did it by updating their app icons. I really liked that and would like it to be the same in GNUstep, but it's a problem with systems which don't want you to have an
app icon (eg windows, or X-windows with most window managers).
