What initialization script? There's NO MENTION of it in the INSTALL
file, and I can't find one anywhere. It gives me no options but to
punt.


It's mentioned in the GNUstep-make INSTALL file under "Setting up the GNUstep [Environment]" and under that:
"Setting up the GNUstep environment for a single user"

You might also want to read the GNUstep-HOWTO (also mentioned in INSTALL) for more concise installation instructions, or you can also read
