Fix-pitch Font and height of line

Hi,

 I notice two things which I'm not sure they are supposed to be.
 For the fix-pitch font, such as Courier,
 backart will make something like "fi" into on character (or glyph ?),
 which make it not fix-pitch.
 Another thing is the height of regular and bold font seems different for 
fix-pitch font.
 Is that correct ?
