Hello all,
I started having a problem launching GNUstep apps yesterday, to try to fix the problem I updated my CVS tree and recompiled but I'm still getting the same errors. When I try to start a GNUstep app (Gorm for instance) I get the following:

aaron@tweedledee$ openapp Gorm
2004-02-06 13:54:42.561 Gorm[25898] NSSocketPortNameServer attempting to start gdomap on local host
This will take a few seconds.
Trying to launch gdomap from /usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools or a machine/operating-system subdirectory. It is recommended that you start up gdomap at login time or (better) when
your computer is started instead.
2004-02-06 13:54:47.721 Gorm[25898]
I couldn't contact the notification server for local host -
so I'm attempting to to start one - which will take a few seconds.
Trying to launch gdnc from /usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools or a machine/operating-system subdirectory. It is recommended that you start the notification server (gdnc) either at
login or (better) when your computer is started up.
2004-02-06 13:54:52.775 Gorm[25898] NSSocketPortNameServer attempting to start gdomap on local host
This will take a few seconds.
Trying to launch gdomap from /usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools or a machine/operating-system subdirectory. It is recommended that you start up gdomap at login time or (better) when
your computer is started instead.

Followed by an alert window for an NSInternalInconsistencyException.

gdnc and gdomap are both installed where GNUstep expects them:

aaron@tweedledee$ which gdnc
/usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools/gdnc
aaron@tweedledee$ which gdomap
/usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools/gdomap

But they don't seem to get launched (commands run after Gorm is aborted):
aaron@tweedledee$ ps ax | grep gdnc
25919 pts/1 S 0:00 grep gdnc
aaron@tweedledee$ ps ax | grep gdomap
25921 pts/1 S 0:00 grep gdomap

I have no idea what caused this or how to fix it. I have tried manually running gdnc and gdomap, but GNUstep doesn't see them running when I try to launch an app and the same problem happens. Other XWindows apps launch fine, it's just GNUstep that has issues.

thanks
aaron

(p.s. machine is a p1 90 mhz running debian linux (woody) with a custom 2.4.18 kernel)
