Embedded Frameworks

Hello all,
I'm trying to make an application which uses an embedded framework (on 
Mac OS X the situation would be something like MyApp depends on 
myFramework which is located in 
MyApp.app/Contents/Frameworks/myFramework.framework).
I have been scouring the available GNUmakefile documentation, and the 
makefile package itself, but have only found references to the 
existence of this behaviour on OS X,  nothing about how to do it in a 
linux environment.
Is this possible?
What variables should I set in my GNUmakefile to accomplish this?
