I reconfigured with
[root@localhost base]# ./configure --with-xml-prefix=/usr/local/lib
I get
*** 'xml-config --version' returned 2.6.10, but libxml (2.2.9)
*** was found! If xml-config was correct, then it is best
*** to remove the old version of libxml. You may also be able to fix the error
*** by modifying your LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable, or by editing
*** /etc/ld.so.conf. Make sure you have run ldconfig if that is
*** required on your system.
*** If xml-config was wrong, set the environment variable XML_CONFIG
*** to point to the correct copy of xml-config, and remove the file
config.cache
*** before re-running configure

You most likely do not want to build base without XML support.
For instance, MacOS-X compatible property lists require XML.
If you really want to build -base without XML support, add --disable-xml
to the configure arguments.
Now I need XML support I'm assuming because I use NSKeyedArchiver.
Help! How do I get rid of/indicate the right library, and is this the
SAX problem mentioned in the previous post?
