I downloaded Morphix 0.5-pre4 LightGUI

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/morphix/MorphixCombined-LightGUI-0.5-pre4.iso?download

which worked a lot better than the GNUstep Live CD: it did mount on my Mac 
(GS Live did not) and it did boot at my Home PC (GS Live booted only at a 
DELL at work)
