We don't need to. GNUstep is more advanced/complete than Cocotron. The only
thing GNUstep lacks are two things:
1) Menus in the window (in order to blend in with the windows look)
2) Building in Xcode on OS X using GNUstep for deployment on other platforms.
These are both being considered for implementation in GNUstep.

How? GNUstep requires the FSF copyright assignment, so you can't use
_any_ of their code.
