You should get an error message from art that tells you what is wrong.
Most likely the specific masks used by your 16 bit resolutions aren't
supported in art. You could report back the warning message just to make
sure.
To resolve this you could either implement support for this specific
colour mode into blit.m and blit-main.m in art or just switch to the
cairo backend (Which has other limitations).
