Summary:  ISerializable objects are not serialized right

Original Submission:  when serializing ISerializable objects the wrong type is 
written out.

t3rmin4tor: please apply the attached patch, but again WITHOUT the parts 
enclosed in "// ILU" and "// endILU". :-)

the patch was obtained using:
