I was thinking about duplicity IMAP backends as in
$ duplicity somedir imaps://address@hidden

which works for me with server=gmail.com, but then I ran into some
trouble while targetting another server.
The symptoms are similar to what is described in this bug report:

except I targeted imaps not S3.
