just stumbled over the pax header possibility in tarfile.py and started
wondering if it would be a valid option to save a file's checksum into while
keeping backward compatibility with older backup chains.
rationale would be to save these into the signature files thus enabling
checksum based comparison between archived and current files, saving bandwidth
as opposed to doing bitwise comparison to restored instances.
can anybody more familiar with the tar format shed some light on that?
