[eev] [NEWBIE] Please explain the concept

I don't know if this mailing list is still alive but I will try

So, I have been presented eev several times in the past but I
have to admit I never really understood the different concepts of
it.

So my unique question is this one: can you explain to me what is
*exactly* eev and in what it can be usefull ? :)
