Setting inhibit-startup-message to non-nil in .emacs causes mainline Emacs
to overlay the last line in the initial window with the mode line instead
of drawing it immediately above where it belongs. Changeing the window
layout in any way or resizing the frame fixes this. But it only happens
when the frame height is at least 45 lines.
