I will hopefully get some time to look at this this week, but if someone 
else wants to try, the
equivalent for w32 is probably something like what is done in 
x_draw_image_foreground()
in w32term.c, or what is done in the BitBlt calls in w32bdf.c is 
probably sufficient for
monochrome bitmaps.
