Is there any interest in seeing an integrated HTTP library for Emacs?

While its possible to implement something using ELisp, most of the difficult work would take a while.

For example SSL, digest auth, basic auth, NTLM challenge response, WSSE auth, etc. all take a while

Both wget and libcurl seem like viable options here.
