Well, I'm still surprised that the only mention of this decision was only
sent to something like gnu.emacs.announce which is known to be at
best flaky.

I would have appreciated some warning *beforehand* in emacs-devel.
Just to ackowledge that we actually exist.  But I guess the method used
reflects the fact that we simply have no say whatsoever in those matters.
