I have been thinking about this crash; it has not happened since but
happened about 5 times in a row. I suspect that there was a badly
formatted spam message that provoked it. That would suggest that
there is a bug, but only provoked by bad email.
That interpretation would suggest that it might not be recent
changed -- it could be very old/long standing.
